How to wear long underwear

Alright, I do not claim to be a fashion expert or anything close to that, but I do like a challenge. My first thought when I saw this item on the Free People website was "Wtf?? Are you supposed to wear this?!" Described as a "thermal long-sleeve romper" this Waffle Romper is designed to be worn as a layering piece under dresses and skirts. I think it's safe to say that many who would see this on the rack would just laugh and move on without truly absorbing the actual usefulness of this item. However, if you think about it, a Waffle Romper could be quite handy in cold winter months and during those in-between times in spring. So what are some good pieces to wear with this item?

The Look: Cool Hipster

I know what you're thinking - don't be scared of horizontal stripes! If worn properly, one doesn't need to worry about looking, well, horizontal. The long length of this cardigan should detract from that, and will layer nicely with your romper and a pair of tough black leather booties to complete the look. Heavy black eyeliner is totally not optional.

The Look: Modern Hippy

Next, you could pair the romper with this dusky pink skirt for a casual, hippie vibe like the Olsens. I love the contrast of the delicate embroidery with the tough grommets. The waistband also features a cool smocked detailing that highlights your waist.

The Look: Channeling Alaska

Finally go lumberjack chic by pairing 2 woodsmen essentials: long-underwear-like clothing and plaid. Plaid is back with a vengeance and is popping up with old and modern twists. Tempt your manly man by layering the romper with this sweetly seductive dress - its lace hemline, faux leather cross-back straps, and button-down front will surely leave him weak in the knees.

And if none of these options appeal to you, I bet these rompers would make a great pair of pyjamas!

In theory this romper is a great idea: it looks cute and the thought of how warm I'd be in it is really appealing. However, I clicked through to check out the specs and there's no way you can go to the bathroom without unbuttoning the top part and pulling the entire thing down! This means that if you layered a dress or cardigan on top you'd have to strip down every time you had to pee. I'm all for taking an extra 5 minutes to get dressed and look cute in the morning, but spending 10 minutes undressing and redressing every bathroom trip seems a tad ridiculous!

That romper would of came in great use during the cold December weather last year...might still be in good use if stays this cold. burrr....
But then after Lisa said that you have to strip naked to pee...well well... that idea is out of the door, since i have public-restroom-phobia! Having to spend more time in the public restroom then I have to, just makes it a no-no for me :(

agreeing with Lisa. With all the water I consume in an 8 hour workday, I'd be pissed trying to use the ladies room

Thanks Lisa for that insight! I would like to know the answer to that too, perhaps I should send a message to Free People's PR?

didn't even think about the whole bathroom issue! wouldn't it be funny if it had buttons at the bottom? it would totally look like a baby's outfit. so no for me although i do think its a good idea.
