Valentines Day gift guide.. for your man

Valentines Day: the day that all men in relationships break into cold sweats and clammy palms striving to meet the ever skyrocketing hopes of their lady loves. Women are hard creatures to please; we expect stars to fall at our command, white horses and carriages, and of course something even better to top it all next year. However is a man to cope? While I'm sure there will be lots out there with answers to that question, I thought I'd ask us women to think of our man on this "day of lovers" and treat him to something nice! Now, being a high maintenance woman, I of course expect my man to do something meaningful (or at least expensive) to show his affections, but I would not expect him to do it without me having to lift a single finger in return. Good high maintenance women know to give as good as they receive and that the key to getting a quality man is to treat him like one too.

Unlike women, romantic gestures aren't exactly the first thing on a man's gift list; a man prefers something that he can use and enjoy in a tangible manner, rather than a list of "key moments" in your relationship. Avoid the awkward "thanks.. it's uh.. just what I wanted" with gifts that will keep him happy, and won't break the bank!

Men love their beer, if not Guinness, then he will definitely have another favourite brand.

Coach Water Buffalo slim bill fold
Coach Water Buffalo slim bill fold, $98

Valentines Day, though much hyped, is still a minor holiday, so don't bust out for anything too extravagant unless you're in the tax bracket to do so. This Coach bill fold is expensive enough to impress, but is also highly useful. A man's wallet is like a woman's purse, so it's important your guy have a wallet he won't be embarrassed to flash around. This one from Coach features 6 credit card pockets, a bill fold, and 2 multi-purpose pockets to hold all your, er his, money.

Everyone likes smooth, clean skin, especially when their girl is running her hands on it, so keep his face silky smooth with this gift pack from The Body Shop. Containing Peruvian Macca root and Brazil nut oil, this trio will moisturize and protect, while the facial brush will scrub away dullness and impurities.

Gears of WarGears of War 2 for XBox

In case you didn't know, guys love video games. One of the hottest games this season is Gears of War 2. Featuring cool graphics and the latest killing action, be prepared for hours of aliens, explosions, and much macho grunting. The game is also pretty fun if you try it out yourself! Hey, if you can't beat them, you might as well join them.

Men love to eat, and every woman wants a man who can cook, so bring these mutual desires together with this cook book! Full of easy and quick recipes, this book will have you finally getting to fulfill your Jamie Oliver fantasies.

Finally, nothing is sexier than a good smelling man. This cool scent features notes of Sicilian mandarin, juniper, musk wood, and oak moss that will have you climbing all over him - and trust me, that is the best gift he could ever have.

Other good games for your guy include Fallout 3, Fable 2, and Call of Duty 5. I've been given a list haha. Great list! I'm struggling over what to get my guy, so big help :)

I just posted pics! Do go check them out.

I love this post on what to get men. I hate to admit it - but sex is probably on the top of every guys list ;-)

Cheers from Seattle,

Hahaha this is a great list!! I don't have a Valentine this year, but I do have quite a few guy friends who are serious foodies and great cooks and I can vouch for the awesomeness of a cook book as a gift.

This blog is sexist stupid shit that I would have bought for my man when I was 15. An adult would already have his favorite wallet, doesn't want your cheap cologne, oh and btw buying beer and cooking dinner doesn't count as a gift. Grow up.

Wow, aren't we a little angry person?

Is it weird that I'm actually kinda happy to have gotten your comment Anon? A lot of bloggers say that mean comments are a sign that your blog is getting popular, so right now instead of feeling insulted by your oddly mean comment, I'm actually feeling kinda giddy!
