I'm a genie in a bottle

White wrap sweater: from Taiwan
Olive ribbed tank top: American Eagle
Jeans: Guess
Flats: from Taiwan

The title of this post stems from the cat-call of some of my former schoolmates who declared these flats as "genie shoes", but these shoes are actually among my favourites as they were my first pair of flats!! No, I'm not shoe retarded, but I do have psychological issues with flats. Being rather height-challenged, I've previously always viewed flats as the enemy, but my mind was turned around in the last couple years by the abundance of gorgeous, cute, and all around bad ass, flats popping up everywhere. Alas, though I had the desire, I had not the feet; all too often, flats were too large to contain my very narrow ankled feet and I would slide out of them as if I were Cinderella trying on her ugly step-sister's shoes. Finally though I got a break when my good friend JL brought back these shoes from Taiwan! Originally bought for cheap for her, she found them too tight and offered them to me. I am always up for a good freebie, so of course I accepted and have loved them ever since. Do you remember how you found your first pair of flats?

I found my first pair of flats at a sands store in Port Alberni.

At my going away party, I wore that grey cardigan you helped me pick out at Urban \outfitter...with my Nine West ankle boots, and new H&M skirt...you were missed. hugz P

Mine were discovered in my basement - they were my mom's, and they were from the 80s. They lasted a long time though, but 8hrs on my feet at work did them in this summer, sadly. They gave me a few seasons of faithful service, though.

I'm too clumsy for heels. I got a really cute pair a few months ago, but I've never worn them yet.

The shiny flats are very cute though - and a great way to add extra zing to an outfit!

Hmmm...I believe I stumbled across my first pair of flats while school shopping trying to find some cross between style and comfort.

It wasn't too long ago ironically, flats in general have been good to me though.

I hardly ever wore flats when I was in India.

When I moved to Vancouver, I saw all these lovely ladies in their flats and they looked so comfy in them. No one seemed to be worried about how tall the other person was. Work seemed a nice walk from home.

It was then that I bought my first flats!

Awe. :)

My first pair of flats were black from Le Chateau in 2006. They were little black ballet style ones, the last they had in stock, and they were in my size. I wore them EVERYWHERE! even running from the police and climbing rooves. As such, they've been utterly DESTROYED! oh well. :( I kept them for their sentimental purpose haha.
