Why bother?

Green tank top: RW&Co
Cropped cardigan: Costa Blanca
Skirt: Urban Behaviour
Boots: Aldo

Apologies for the general crappiness of this photo, it was taken at night just after I arrived home from work! Recently a reader asked me what prompted me to begin posting outfit shots; well the whole point of these outfit posts was to document the evolution of my own style, and since I think it's fun to see what other bloggers wear, I, in a rather narcissistic way thought maybe others would be curious to see what I wear! If magazines are for the fashion fantasies where we can drool over the thousand dollar dresses and the jewels, and the purses, then blogs I think are a realm for reality. Blogs are where we can see how real life people dress and real life people dress from the mall. It's sad, but true. One of my philosophies for this blog is that you have to make the best of what you've got at hand, whether it be in terms of looks, finances, whatever. I hope that by doing these posts, it's an online journal for myself, and of what I was thinking when I put a certain outfit together and it inspires me to try to rework my wardrobe in various ways, rather than doing what I usually do, which was to reach in and grab the first thing I touched. I just hope it's not too boring to read!

On another note, I've noticed that I do favour certain items in my closet. I really miss shopping and could use some fresh items in my closet, but even though April, and the end of my shopping ban, are fast approaching, I'm not sure how many items I will allow myself to indulge in. What sort of must-have items are you recommending for spring??

Cute outfit! Very urban chic.

Real-life people do dress from the mall, but I always find that a good mixture is the most inspiring. I love reading descriptions of people's outfits in which all the pieces come from different places--some mall or chain store, vintage/thrifted, something they bought from a country they travelled to.

I agree - I always tried to get as many pics of myself in oufits when I went out partying then realized that I didn't do that for the day. It really helps me remember what works and what doesn't!

I also just like to share my looks and outfits, after all we don't just dress for ourselves!

I can't even think about Spring till the weather changes!

my must-have is a sassy trenchcoat

my must have is pastel trench and a floaty dress with boater. But that chance of getting them is like 1/20. Damm it. I love the cardigan.

Cute outfit! I certainly don't own anything designer haha, but mall/vintage is nothing to be ashamed with! For this spring, I'm all about femme florals with edgy jackets to deal with the stupid vancouver rain.

Love the outfit! I agree with your sentiment - I love blogs because I love seeing how real people dress.

Spring must haves? I'm going with airy woven tops and fun printed sundresses! Now if only the rain would let up!

I love your boots! I always wear my distressed leather (horse)riding boots...they're my fave, even though they're flat boots. It keeps me versatile in this unpredictable Toronto weather.

In case you're interested, I have partnered with the tres chic Mr and Mrs Smith Hotel for some great prizes at my blog. Cheers!

Spring must-haves: assless chaps, sombrero, and a giant foamy "We're #1" hand. You can dress it up with a fanny pack, or dress it down with fishing waders!

I love seeing other people's outfits, despite the jealousy it often brings out. For instance, I'm so jealous of your boots! ;)
