Lust of the Week: Gucci Vintage Patent Leather Shoulder Bag

This wonderfully classic vintage Gucci first caught my eye immediately as I hunted around for this week's LOTW. The tiny shape is beautifully simple and structured and just big enough to fit a thin wallet, phone, lip gloss and keys. It can be used as a shoulder bag, or a clutch with the detachable strap and features the most delicious maroon-brown color balanced with luxurious gold hardware. The front flap also has this neat striped detail that adds visual interest and a somewhat preppy air. Its patent leather exterior gives it a shine that keeps this bag from looking just dull and I imagine the leather to be strong enough to last the years. To me, this bag has a character that will grow with its wearer as they age from optimistic youth, to a wise woman. I would wear this bag with everything from flowing white summer halter dresses, to dark denim and thick knit cardigans in winter. What are your thoughts, is this purse amazing or a yawn?

To me there's something so 1970s flight attendant about it. I'd love to wear this bag with a belted camel-coloured trench, big aviator shades, and Farrah Fawcett hair lol.

Love that purse. It's definitely a classic that with over time, looks even more fab. I'm over everyone having 100 emblems everywhere, so this is perfect for a simple, casual outfit or can compliment a dressier look.

It's pricey, but could be worth it! =)

Hi love. I was twittering today about bags, and this is on point! I love the vintage Gucci and the other old school labels. But the new stuff, not a huge fan!

I think that a classic is always divine and more worthy of the splurge!

Now that is a bag worth lusting!!

Something about its vintage glamour is quite appealing =] My mom has a similar bag by Chanel of that color & material! I plan on stealing it =]

Even though it's gorgeous and classic, I would buy something else for US$2500 (Chanel reissue? Not sure how much they're going for these days) :)

I do love it though!

i second the comment about the 70s flight attendant vibe! i love it, but would also like to see it in regular non-shiny leather.

I love it. Love its vintage-ness. Love its shininess and love its colour (it would be absolutely beeeautiful in a nail polish, don't you think?).

@Elizabeth Marie: Ooh I love hobos too, but classic, structured bags do have a special spot in my heart.

@La Couturier: Aww you're so lucky to have a stylish mom!

@The Anthology: Ohh that's a good idea about the nail polish!
