Black tights make me feel like a cabaret dancer

White cowl-neck shirt: Plenty
Vest: Forever 21
Black shorts: Mango
Tights: H&M
Yellow pumps: from Taiwan

Layering is such a great way to remix outfits. When I was younger I was all about the loud, graphic tees and crazy patterns - I even had a shirt on it that said "My boyfriend thinks I'm hotter than you"! Needless to say, I have progressed somewhat on from that. Now, I wear a lot of solid colors and subtle patterns, meaning I rarely go for items with writing on it. In this outfit it was a sunny day, but not hot, so I layered the shorts with some tights and the shirt with a vest for warmth and contrast. The yellow pumps keep this outfit fun and draw attention. Wearing clothes in this way is just more stylish and has better longevity since colorful graphics and text can feel dated faster than the latest Ray J song.

How would you say your style has changed from back in your youth?

Sassy picture, missy! love your layered look, very sophisticated. Those pumps are very nice too.

i love leggings. last night i got scissor happy and shred up a pair - can't wait to layer them with frayed denim shorts or mini skirts.

happy friday!

Cute! I did the black tights and tailored shorts combo last fall. Layering is such a great way of getting more versatility out of your wardrobe. :-)

Hmm how HAS my style changed since my youth? I'd say my tastes have gotten pickier and more expensive, and I'm more willing to take risks. :-)

the fit of my clothes is mainly what has changed. i used to do everything baggy, but now i prefer fitted, tailor, and feminine.

Don't know whether I have a style :-) Summer is too short to even start showing off the clothes.

Totally agreed with you about disclosure. We have a chance to make it very clear to readers about that

Love the tights and shoes combo!

And great Q ~ I would say that, surprisingly, my style has gotten more adventurous as I've gotten older!

I love layering tights with shorts! So fun!!

In my youth I was a tomboy - I stole skater hoodies from my brother (He is bigger than me, so they went down to my knees!) and all summer I wore Men's basketball shorts! Not so cute!

I dyed my hair often - neon pink, orange, blonde, red...

I like to think I'm much more stylish now!

I absolutely love your yellow heels and that waistcoat! I think my style is always changing, but I think I try to be a lot more subtle than I may have used to be. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend dear :)

Love it!

The yellow heels are super cute! as far as my style changing, I've been through so many but come full circle, I wore leather pants at 11 and now I'm wearing leather pants and other leather pieces again. lol

@Livie: ooh! Can't wait to check out your DIY, I'd never be brave enough to pull off that look.

@Deka: that was me too!

@Couture Carrie: it's so true, but now I wish I could relive my teenage years so that I could have longer to be more fashion adventurous!

@Nini's Style: Thx Nini! Coming from you, that's quite a compliment :)

Love the pop of color from those yellow pumps! ALSO: do you still have that boyfriend tee-shirt? HILARIOUS.

Totally agree! I used to wear screen-tees all the time, I thought I was so cool! But you can never wear them more than twice or else it just gets old! Classic pieces that can be re-purposed has definitely taken over my closet as I've grown up.

Also, BETTER fitted clothes are now a staple. I used to buy clothes even if they didn't really fit b/c they were "cool." I just looked foolish!

I love this!

my style hasn't really changed very much from when I was a teen....not sure if that is a good/bad thing at 29!

you look fab! I love the vest, I've been curious how other people have used them in their outfits. I also love the yellow shoes!

Aren't you hot?? It's about a million degrees here in Hong Kong - I couldn't imagine wearing tights!

Otherwise, adorable outfit!

Love the OOTD! I always think that bright accessories (or shoes in your case) can make or break an outfit!

That reminds me, I should have a T-shirt lying around somewhere that says 'My boyfriend thinks I'm rich' LOL

Love how you paired the shorts with stockings! definitely going to try it xx
