Pleated navy skirt: H&M
Black booties: Spring
During a brief respite from the wet fall weather, I decided to bare my legs in the name of fashion. It's been interesting to take outfit shots and post them here as it's allowed me to watch the evolution of my style. These days, my main source for fashion inspiration is the streets and blogs. Blogs are amazing as it has really opened my eyes to fashion possibilities and just how stylish people around the world are. One such thing I've learned from blogs is how to rethink closet concepts. This outfit, for instance, is a perfect example of how I'm utilizing knowledge I've gained from blogs. This floral "top" is actually a dress, and I've layered a pleated schoolgirl skirt from H&M over top it. My legs were actually quite comfortable with this double layering, and it gave this Topshop dress a fresh, new look. Add some booties to toughen up the look a tad, and I was good to go! What style tips have you learned from blogs?

Love it! Never thought of layering a skirt over a dress. Great way to pull summer dresses into fall.
so cute :) i love booties! and pairing them with skirts and dresses is always better than the usual easy leggings or skinny jeans :)
You look super cute! :)
And the best style tip I think I've learned from blogs is that nothing looks good on you more then being confident and comfortable in your own clothing choices, no matter your style.

Awesome idea! Thanks for sharing! You look great, btw!
I agree in that blogs teach great tricks of style. That's why I love coming to your blog!
I love dress layering - it's definitely one of my favourite blog tips!
That floral dress is adorable!
I love the idea of wearing a skirt over a dress - it adds a bit more dimension and is so pretty!
A style tip I have picked up from blogs...leggings can be worn as pants even if the blouse doesn't cover your butt! :)
Gorgeous, darling!
Love the dress worn as a top ~ so chic!

Great idea, skirt over dress. Blogs also inspire me in ways that are too cool for words. It's really amazing meeting stylish people like you. Really inspiring.

Hey Chica! Thank you for your comment with kind words on my latest post (about the nude lips, at http://thegirlieblog.blogspot.com).
Have a fab Saturday!
this rain has been doing nothing for my outfits! I feel like I'm jumping from jacket to jacket and hiding behind umbrellas!
Cute outfit & you're so brave to wear a skirt in this weather :)

MizzJ, love the dress with skirt idea! It is nice to see a print and color in these dreary gray days!
I agree... fashion blogs can be a source of tons of inspirations. Love how you layered your dress with the skirt.
Hooray for closet recycling! You know what makes me shop my own closet? Rearranging it. Don't ask me why.

I'm with kelsey on this one, closet recycling totally gets me reinventing outfits. I love how you layered this, I love wearing big skirts over top body con dresses too! it's like you have a brand new top, or a brand new dress :)
Cute! Ah wardrobe remix...I've probably picked up more ingenious layering ideas from The Clothes Horse than from anywhere else.
How cute is this? <3
awww so cute I wanna poke your cheeks!!! yeah no kidding about the movie critic thing, its like a porn star you do it all day you become immune to what is suppose to be fun. And LOL yeah my office is not big on dressing up and coordinating outfits, and apparaently as seen at the U2 concert they also don't really encourage not acting like a drunken fool infront of random chicks either
great recycling! love the dress/now top!
Hi Mizzj! I totally agree, blogs are a source of style inspirations. I don't buy fashion magazines anymore. It's much better to look at the actual style of a person and not the styles of models in magazines.
Love the dress turned into a skirt...very ingenious!
I totally need to get my closet in order so I can shop it. Thanks for the inspiration lady!
ELEMENT MIX AND MATCHING, specifically feminine + masculine, WHEE~
I love learning from other style blogs as well! I've always been weary of layering dresses and skirts the way you have but it looks great! I'll have to try it some time :)
