Granny chic

Dress: TopShop
Sweater: Jacob
Tights: Nine West
Booties: too old to remember

I'm not sure how the lighting got like that on these photos, but it was au natural, no photoshop tinting! I kinda like the weird tint, it fits the outfit. I felt very 90s grunge in this ugly-pretty mess. It's a bit of granny chic, no? The sweater over the dress, the opaque tights and the somewhat clunky shoes, it's all very granny-ish, but I kinda like it for that reason. Sometimes it's fun to purposely look a little un-done and unpretty. Thank goodness for v-necks though because I think without it this outfit would look really frumpy! What do you think?

The color of the v-neck makes the outfit work! Did you pair this with a cute scarf or any other accessories?

i agree about looking undone and unpretty sometimes. it takes real beauty to pull it off, don't you think?

You look very pretty : ) I've never been to a TopShop but there's one in the city where I'm working now, so I'm excited! I hear their stuff runs pretty small.

I like the idea of the V-neck on top of the dress. You look comfy and stylish.

v-necks are the best thing in the world!!

id hardly desribe your outfit as granny! i love the vintage-y tint too! v-necks are the perfect balance to a long skirt!

The v-neck was definitely a good choice! I think a turtleneck or anything else would have made it a bit too 'granny'. The boots were a great choice as well. I occasionally try the grunge granny chic, but men seem to hate this look. Then again, what do they know? ;-)
