Why, hello there 2011 + Winner Announcement

At first I didn't want to be doing the same sort of looking back, looking ahead type of resolution post like everyone was doing, but dammit they are pretty much what everyone has on their minds so why not! 2010 was a good and bad year. It was a good year for creativity as I worked hard to help organize some really interesting and innovative writing workshops and got to interview some very cool people. It was also good for celebrating good times with friends, witnessing a historical moment for myself and my country, and of course for lots of eating and shopping. On the flip side, 2010 was bad for some hard lessons learned about friendships, about loyalty, respect, and trust. I learned more about myself and about others. From what I've been told, such hardships are a part of growing up, and while I look back on them with a lot of sadness and hurt still, I'm happy to say that letting go of that negativity was a huge relief and made me a happier person, if a more guarded one. Here's to hoping that 2011 will be full of better positivity!

As for resolutions, I don't really have many, but here's what I've got so far:
  1. spend more time with family and friends
  2. exercise 3-4 times a week alternating between the gym and yoga
  3. increase my snowboarding skills so that I may go down Blue level runs comfortably
  4. do all my blogging for the week in one concentrated night so that I will have more time for accomplishing resolutions 1-3
  5. visit somewhere new
How was 2010 for all of you, and what do you wish for 2011?

P.S. Congrats to andbythewei for winning the Karmin G3 Flat Iron from part 4 of my Holiday Giveaway Bonanza! I really loved and appreciated all your hair stories, but in the end, I had to give it to her as seriously, what could be worse than burning your hair?!

Number 4 is a DAMN good idea. That is probably so much more efficient than trying to do it on three or four separate nights after work. I'm stealing that one:)

PS: For my frittatas, I bake them at 350 for about 15-20 minutes, or until they're golden brown and slightly puffed up.

Happy new year J! i know what you mean about the year end blog review but it IS very reflective to think back on 2010. i like your resolution about the snowboarding! i have decided to come out of snowboarding retirement so maybe we can hit up the slopes sometime together. my goal this year is to ride the park and do more jumps.

what doesn't kill you can only make you stronger so i'm sure what you went through in 2010 is only making for a more FIERCE you. i know 2011 is going to be great.

Re Beautiful Life - not sure that it's ending but definitely not sure where it's going. it'll be an adventure either way =)

Burnt hair! That's hard to top.

Loyalty, respect and trust...the bedrock of any relationship. My hope is that the people who violate our friendship, and lose it, end up learning something too. But I'm not confident. I've met too many who rationalize, justify, and blame the person they shafted. It's great that you've been able to let it go.

Give me their names and I'll smite them for you!!! Of course, I'm not exactly sure what smiting is--or even if I spelled it correctly! =)

Wow, #4 is ambitious! My resolutions are fairly similar to yours (minus #3, snowboarding and I don't mix, ha).

I've also decided to take up the "blog post a day" challenge at Wordpress. Of course it's going well so far when I'm doing nothing at my parents' house, but once I go back to work is another matter...
