Another night, the inevitable prolongs

Tank top: RW&co
Leggings: Zara
Dress: Zara
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters

This past week was a whirlwind of activity.  Myself and the co-editor-in-chief of Schema Magazine were interviewed for our work by a journalism student in Montreal.  It was fun being interviewed, but sometimes I have to admit I did not understand the questions that the interviewer was asking!  Note to fellow writers, if you are interviewing someone, don't try so hard to sound intellectual.  Say your question concisely and in clear language; it's about the meaning, not the form.  The rest of the week was a blur of volunteer meetings (shh but big announcement coming in March!), watching the Nicole Bridger show during Vancouver Eco Fashion Week, and getting inspired about open source video initiatives at the Remixology event Friday.  Finally it became the weekend and I was very grateful for a couple days of doing nothing with Mr. Artist and the doggie doo.  I also finally got some time to learn more about how to use my new DSLR!  I am so in love with my new baby, even though I have little understanding of how to use it. Shutters, aperture, ISO, it's all so confusing!  After watching some tutorials, I think I understand what the different functions are for, but now I have to develop my "artistic eye."  Any recommends on how to learn?

In other news I received the Versatile Blogger award from a fellow blogger way over in Indonesia!  If you haven't heard of Yuri's blog Two Thousand Things, then you really should hop, skip and jump over, because her wardrobe remixing and styling posts are some of the best ever!  She stuns me with how creative she is.  For this award I have to list 7 random things about myself and then pass it on to 7 other blogs! So here goes...
  1. I hate it when my feet stick out of the blanket while I'm sleeping so I always have to have my feet covered; however I cannot sleep if I wear socks to bed either!
  2. My favourite flavour of pho is beef balls with beef flank
  3. When I was little, I would make mayonnaise sandwiches.  That's right, just mayo and bread!
  4. When I interviewed Far East Movement, one of the bandmates had dry lips. I offered him my strawberry Lip Smackers.
  5. I have terrible, incomprehensible handwriting.  Sometimes I can't even read it.
  6. I used to be able to do this when I was younger and it is my yoga goal to do it again someday
  7. I have never been to the circus because I find clowns to be the creepiest things
And I now pass this award onto...

I STILL haven't quite figured out my dSLR, and I've had it for two years now. It's so easy to just keep it on auto and take the easy way out, but I've been trying to get more adventurous with it. You'll get the hang of it, especially since there are so many great tutorials, even on YouTube for it! :)
Omg, we have SO much in common - I am absolutely the same way with your #1. Sometimes I wear socks to bed, and seriously, the bottom of my bed is like where socks have gone to die. And the circus?! Ugh, no thank you! A guy took me there on a first date once, and that was the first and last - I hate clowns!
Great post, pretty girl!

Hey! Which DSLR did you get? I'm reading through this great book that I think you'll find helpful too?

Sooo .. does that mean we get to do a photowalk/outfit shots for each other - LOL!

Thanks for nominating me for the award! Like you, I got feet out of the blanket issues. Hubby sticks out a foot at bedtime (he says it's for temperature regulation) but it's a pet peeve of mine, so I always cover it up with the blanket!

I miss my DSLR.

Here is how I learned: I would shoot a picture in Auto, or at least focus in Auto, take a look at the Aperture (fstop) settings, the ISO, the Shutter speed, and then switch to manual and shoot the same scene.

Eventually you learn what works and can go into Manual directly. If you do the AP (Aperture Priority Setting), you set the aperture yourself and the iso and shutter speed set themselves depending on the light and what you're shooting. If you do SP, you set the shutter speed and the aperture and ISO adjust themselves automatically.

Have fun!

Congratulation on your award!:D

I can completely relate with #1 and mayonnaise sandwiches? Sounds strange but might try it!
